Spring is nearly here!

You'll need to begin these tasks:
  • Check your outside plants and shrubs in pots. They may need topping up, our Scottish Gardener is a great peat reduced compost for this.
  • Spear and Jackson secateurs are very useful to trim any dead parts of trees and shrubs.
  • It might be time to plant your bedding plants into the cell pack trays for final growing on. Using our Scottish Gardener peat reduced compost is good for this task.
  • Check it's still not too cold though. Try our simple to use Garland maximum - mimimum digital thermometers.
  • Lawns are usually looking sorry for themselves at this time of year. Gently bring them back to life by raking any dead grass or debris from them. Then apply our own Clydeside spring and summer lawn fertiliser to encourage new growth.
  • After around 4 weeks you can decide what is now best for your lawn. Do you need more of our Clydeside spring and summer feriliser or do you need Evergreen weed, feed and mosskiller. We also sell the no-rake Mo-Bacter range. The choice is yours.
  • You may also need some of our Miracle-Gro thick 'r' lawn, which comes in a 4kg bag. The bag will cover up to 80m2 and contains grass seed, fertiliser and soil.
  • Slugs are starting to emerge. Use our Doff Slug Pellets or Doff Slug Gel to control them. There is also an alternative of using Vitax wool pellets, which are more child and pet friendly.
  • Weeds will start emerging everywhere. Use our Weedol Rootkill Plus or Doff Glyphosate to knock them down before they take over.
  • If you have a larger area, we have 5L Concentrate of Glyhosate available.
  • If it's not practical to use weed killers, we have a range of Spear and Jackson tools along with Bulldog hoes available.
